Physics Programmer - New

My client is a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for major video game systems and personal computers. They’re currently looking to recruit experienced, Next-Gen familiar candidates to ensure their success is unrivalled in the years to come.


Job Purpose

- Implementation of physics solutions using physics middleware API within the core game engine, and support for existing physics systems.
- Implementation of vehicle handling, including bikes, cars and articulated trucks.

Required skills

- Proficient in C++.
- Demonstrable problem solving skills.
- Good Bachelors degree in a relevant subject (CS, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering)
- Good A-levels or equivalent in Mathematics and Physics.
- At least 1 shipped title in a game physics role.
- Good communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for on-going learning and development.
- Good self-organizational abilities.
- Self motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experienced with technical design and documentation.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices.
- Ability to write clear maintainable portable code.
- Experience with physics APIs in particular Havok.

Desirable

- Experience with vehicle handling physics.
- Unreal engine and/or UnrealScript experience.
- Knowledge of Xbox 360 or PS3 console development.
- Experience with optimization techniques.
- Passion for driving games and an understanding for what makes them playable.
